Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts
The Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts, home to both a Fine Arts Gallery and a Children’s Gallery, is currently being built (2024–2025). For this landmark project, a durable and effective waterproofing solution was essential.
After extensive discussions and negotiations, the client successfully persuaded both government authorities and the renowned architect to move away from the originally planned bituminous membrane and opt for a cutting-edge MS polymer system.
The challenge was significant: the roofing area with 30° inclination, includes more than 600 irregular penetrations and supports — from columns and walkway railings to lighting posts, illumination fixtures, and shear barriers for the steeply sloped green roof. These complex details made a traditional membrane system risky.
The selected solution, KÖSTER MS Flexfolie, ensured a seamless, fast, and reliable application across the roof surface and around every penetration and detail. To further secure the structure, all mechanical fixings were sealed with KÖSTER MS Joint Sealant, preventing water ingress through any perforations.
